This full-day kayaking trip exploring Sitka Sound is custom-built to give you the ideal paddling itinerary and route that will truly “float your boat”. There’s no such thing as a “typical” itinerary for a “Wild Coast” adventure – no two are the same – and your paddling guide will help to design a route that suits your preferences as well as the day’s tide, wind and weather conditions. Your private day tour will also include a one-hour cruise through this scenic waterway in southeast Alaska.
Your private all-day kayaking adventure will either begin or end with an exciting one-hour scenic cruise aboard our sturdy transport vessel. Your kayaking guide will also give you all the necessary tips and techniques you’ll need to maximize your fun exploring the many islands in Sitka Sound.
Once you are afloat in your kayak, no matter what route you paddle, the scenery will be amazing. Sitka Sound is bordered by hundreds of untouched coves, inlets, and narrow passages, each containing their own secrets waiting to be discovered. The waters of the sound are sprinkled with almost countless unnamed islands and reefs. This is the perfect sea kayaking destination, and you can discover areas inaccessible by any other means. Few activities can match the experience of gliding silently across the canopy of a kelp forest – the clear waters revealing views of undersea gardens and marine life, while seals bask on the rocks and curious sea otters poke their little flat heads as high as possible out of the water to get a better look at you.
At the half-way point, you can step ashore on a seldom-visited island to stretch your legs, do a little beach combing and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch.
